James Oleary, owner and artist at Pencil Portraits has been drawing in pencil from a very young age, his ability in being able to really look at a subject and capture it in fine detail on paper has come from many years of perfecting his skills.

James says "I'm a pet portrait and wildlife artist first but enjoy all sorts of subjects".

James works exclusively from photographs, which he takes himself, he will also work from supplied photographs but prefers to take the shots as he knows what will work best once the image is transferred to paper.

"I like to try and capture the textures of the fur, skin and most importantly, the eyes.
Wildlife and domestic animals will always be my favorite subjects" says James.
